Geocache Description:

This cache was placed along the Ability Trail in Hanwell Recreation Park to celebrate National AccessAbility Week  2023

The province, cities, villages, municipalities and rural communities have all come a long way to making things better for people with physical and/or intellectual challenges with things improving all the time. It has taken many champions helping to bring awareness to the masses to help move things along. Some buildings have the bare minimum required by legislation while others have gone above and beyond because people have become aware of obstacles to “Inclusion”.

There is always more we all can do to help and becoming aware and educated to the needs is the beginning. The following is an excerpt from an event held to celebrate the placement of wheelchair accessible caches along the Ability trail.

“CRAG (Capital Region Association of Geocachers) has made Inclusivity part of its goals. Our goals regarding the placement of this cache and holding an event is so non geocachers can learn a little bit about geocaching and everyone can learn more about AccessAbility! CRAG will hold a fun and educational event. May 28, 2023

Randy Dickinson, a very prominent local AccessAbility Advocate and Member of the Order of Canada, will be on hand to say a few words. By way of introduction here is a paraphrased quote from his Member of the Order of Canada citation.
