This cache is part of a new series of mystery caches located along the trail to Moose Pond. The cache is not at the listed location. You will need to solve a fairly simple puzzle to get the actual coordinates for the cache. To solve this puzzle, you need to find the coordinates of a famous fly-fishing river that are hidden somewhere on this page. Enter these coordinates in Google Maps or similar map program and look for the name of the River. You will then enter the name of the River, and the full name (no abbreviations) of the state in which it is located into Puzzle-Checker. If the river is not located in the US, enter the country instead of the state. For example, if the river is the Saranac River, your answer is SaranacRiverNewYork (No Spaces). Submit this answer to Puzzle-Checker, and you will receive the actual coordinates, and possibly a hint to find the cache.
This small stream in eastern California is famous for dry-fly fishing for Rainbow, German Brown, and Cutthroat trout. My best friend grew up fishing on this stream. An interesting technique to catch fish was developed here. Fisherman use a very long (10-20 foot) piece of 1 or 2 pound test tippet on the end of the main leader. They then cast this long tippet into a “pile” above where they want the fly to drift. This allows the fly to float downstream in a very natural drift without any drag that would scare the fish. The fishing here while challenging is often rewarded with Rainbow and German Brown trout up to 4-5 pounds.
