Piazza Roma si trova tra il Viale Regina Margherita e Via Etnea. La piazza è un luogo stratico per i cittadini ed è stato costruito secondo il pensiero di giardino monumentale e di piazza cittadina. Di fronte la piazza si trova il rinomato Giardino Bellini, o Villa Bellini (come piace chiamarlo ai catanesi). Alle spalle è presente l'istituto De Felice, costruito secondo gli stili eclettico/classico nel costruito nel 1926/29 dall'architetto Francesco Fichera. L'istituto nasce come luogo di formazioni professionale e tutt'ora ha la stessa destinazione.
Fulcro della piazza è il monumento equestre di re Umberto I di Savoia collocato centralmente su un alto piedistallo, realizzato da Mario Rutelli nel 1911. Fin ora il monumento non ha mai subito un restauro.
Sedetevi e ammirate le possenti chiome degli alberi, i bellissimi palazzi storici che circondano la piazza e il viavai dei cittadini. 😊

Piazza Roma is located between Viale Regina Margherita and Via Etnea. The square is a strategic place for citizens and was built according to the thought of a monumental garden and a town square. In front of the square is the famous Bellini Garden, or Villa Bellini (as the locals like to call it). Behind is the De Felice Institute, built according to the eclectic/ classic styles in the built-in 1926/29 by the architect Francesco Fichera. The institute was created as a place of professional training and still has the same destination.
The centre of the square is the equestrian monument of King Umberto I of Savoy placed centrally on a high pedestal, built by Mario Rutelli in 1911. The monument has never been restored.
Sit back and admire the mighty foliage of trees, the beautiful historic buildings that surround the square and the bustle of the citizens. 😊
