Canberra parks and Nature Park have many fantastic birdwatching spots.
Occasionally though, often whilst caching, I happen to come across areas that are rather industrial or very urban and am surprised to see and hear lots of birds. Remnant stips of green with trees can be important corridors for birds to migrate from one area to another.
Pack your binoculars and check out this spot. I first came here to do Fore!'s Ornithology for Beginners, which I can recommend. It also combines Birdwatching and caching. I found that one 11 years ago and have since come back just for birdwatching.
Whilst hiding the cache I saw several White-winged Trillers, Thornbills, Willy Wagtails, Weebiils, Grey Fantails, Red Wattlebird, Chrimson Rosellas, Australian Magpies, Superb Fairy-wrens and a few LBB (Little Brown Birds).
On previous visits I have seen a Sacred Kingfisher, Kookaburras, Ravens, Red-browed Finches and lots more.
Whilst this a park and grab cache, I do recommend to stay a little while and watch the birds. You could have lunch here or park your car and also access a few other caches in the area.
Please make sure the natural cover still looks natural. No space for swaps and BYO pen.
There is no need to cross any fences.
