Phoenix #2.5.40.6558023050 -- Persistance Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

jeffgamer: I checked on this one today and it is indeed missing...again. It's a little too often muggled...it seems clear to me that someone keeps coming and removing whatever I hide here. Since it's clearly been compromised anyway, I think it's time to let this one go.

Thanks to all who have visited it and its predecessors over the years!

Cache on!

Geocache Description:

I had a geocache, "McMillamends", hidden in the tree just south of this one for years...but it kept on getting muggled. SOMEONE had been actively removing the container.  So I decided to archive it.

THEN I decided to hide a more cleverly-placed smaller container elsewhere in the same tree...but the cache, entitled "Phoenix #2", was too difficult to retrieve AND, as it turned out, any attempt to retrieve it would lead to dozens of angry red ants surging out in defense of the cache.

THEN I relocated the cache to a couple of blocks away. That cache, entitled Phoenix #2, got muggled, then became an ant magnet, and then, after it was replaced, soon fell into a spot that could not be reached.

THEN Phoenix #2.5 was created, with a different type of hide, near the original spot, in the next tree over (the current tree). That cache was muggled in October 2021, so I replaced it in November with Phoenix 2.5.5 in a different spot and in a less-likely-to-be-muggled way.

AND it was recently muggled again...though the most recent incarnation's spot looks to have been altered significantly enough that the muggling may have just been a by-product of tree maintenance rather than intentionality.

*SIGH*

You'd THINK that I'd take the hint from the universe and decide to finally abandon this location. But, when it comes to geocaching, I'm one of those types who will keep searching long after most others would have given up...and I usually carry that persistence into my hides as well.

Sooooooo....

Like a Phoenix, it, like the opportunity to earn a new smiley, RISES AGAIN! MWAH HAH HAH HAHHHHHH!!!! This new cache is subtitled "Persistance" to reflect my refusal to let the location disappear from the geocaching maps. For long-time geocachers, this will feel like you're trapped in "Groundhog Day"...or, should I say, "Groundhog Dayja Vu"?  You will be searching for a regularly-sized black bison.  Please make sure to fully insert it back in its spot and camo it in there so any possibly hyper-vigilant muggles will overlook it! Let's see if this one can last a few years!

P. S. I considered making this a puzzle cache, but I know some people tune out to caches the moment they notice that blue question mark, so I've made it a traditional. However, I've left the solution on the cache page. See if you can figure out how you would have solved it. I promise it wouldn't have been hard!! 🤣

Oh...and ignore the fact that the log says "Fruit Loops" at the top...it was originally going to be a replacement for my "Fruit Loops" geocache, but I went a different way with the hide for that one and didn't realize the logsheet in this container had its name on it.

Cache on!!
