Salvador Allende Gossens (Valparaíso, 1908. június 26. – Santiago de Chile, 1973. szeptember 11.) chilei orvos, politikus volt. 1970 november 4.-től 1973. szeptember 11.-ig Chile demokratikusan megválasztott elnöke. Az 1973-as katonai puccs során vesztette életét.
Az emlékkő felállításáról és a lakótelepen található park átnevezéséről 1973 októberében született meg a döntés. 1974-ben egy emlékfát is ültettek a parkban, ami sajnos már nem található meg.
Az emlékmű előtt gyakran pihennek emberek a padon, légy türelmes!
