Geocache Description:

About SideTracked Caches

This geocache belongs to the SideTracked series that is popular in the UK and throughout the world. The first cache was placed on the 10th August, 2007, and is now spreading around the world. It is designed to be a relatively quick cache find around train stations for travellers but, of course, anyone else can find it too! More Information about the series can be found at the SideTracked Series

Please bring your own writing stick to sign the log and remember if you have not signed the log you have not officially found the cache. Sadly no photo logs will be accepted.

Burradoo

The name Burradoo comes from an Aboriginal word meaning ‘many Brigalow trees’.

Burradoo is a town south of Bowral in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. The area was first settled in 1861 and is 135km south-west of Sydney. It is considered to be one of the more expensive areas in the Southern Highlands and has many historic manor style homes. It is particularly attractive in autumn with many colourful trees.

About Burradoo Station

The station was opened in 1870 but closed on the 22nd March, 1975. It was reopened one year later, on the 1st March, 1976 due to local demand. It takes I hour and 56 minutes to travel the 138.8km by rail from Central Station, Sydney to Burradoo.

There are 2 tracks with the platforms being what is called a ‘double sided formation’ which means the tracks are between the platforms.

NSW rail statistics show an average of 10 passengers use each service at this station.

This is a simple hide. After you have explored the station, don't forget to use the 'on foot' level crossing to the city bound platform, walk about 200m along the scenic Railway Road to find the cache.
