Iron Man
Iron Man was always somewhat of a secondary Marvel character. That all changed because of Robert Downey Jr. and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His depiction of Iron Man in the movies was so well received that the MCU jumped out to a great start and never looked back.
In the comics Iron Man first appeared in "Tales of Suspense" #39 in 1963. Soon after that he founded the Avengers superhero team with Thor, Ant-Man, Wasp and the Hulk. He received his own title in Iron Man #1 in 1968. My favorite Iron Man comic that I own would be Iron Man #55, the very first appearance of the one and only Thanos.
Of course Iron Man was in several MCU films. His first film titled "Iron Man" is considered the film that started off the MCU with a bang. He had three solo films, four Avengers films, and other guest appearances.
Iron Man is also known as Tony Stark who is a wealthy American business magnate, playboy, philanthropist, inventor and ingenious scientist. He creates Iron Man after he suffers a severe chest injury during a kidnapping. When his captors attempt to force him to build a weapon of mass destruction, he instead creates a mechanized suit of armor to save his life and escape captivity. He later uses the suit and successive versions to protect the world as Iron Man.
