MK23 Wildlife Trail H - Hedgehogs
Hedgehogs are popular mammals but like many of our birds and animals have been suffering from decline due to lack of habitat and climate change. Nationally hedgehogs are now considered vulnerable to extinction but Milton Keynes with its mix of parkland, woods and urban has a good opportunity to reverse the national trend.
Hedgehogs are nocturnal and are particularly active between March and October, they then hibernate during the winter. If you want to help hedgehogs in your area then there are some ways in this blog from the Parks Trust that can make your garden 'hog-friendly': Hedgehog Blog
This is one of 26 caches celebrating the flora and fauna of Milton Keynes, it's not just concrete cows and roundabouts. How many of our different plants and animals can you spot in our City? Please do add photos to yours logs
All the caches are on a walk near Willen Lake and can be easily navigated. They are all available from running the Wherigo cartridge which is available here: MK23 Wildlife Trail
Thank you to the Parks Trust and MKGees for their help and permission to set these caches.
