Geocache Description:

While in the area, we came across this site marker that I have dubbed the Largest Arrowhead in WV.

In 1761 several hundred yards away from this marker there was a Block House built by John Justus Hinkle Sr. as a protection from Indian attacks. The Hinkles' came from North Carolina after suffering Indian attacks, looking for a safer place to live. They thought of this area as the "Promised Land" built the fort as protection for the Hinkle Family and other settlers. Then served as an outpost during the Revolutionary War.

This is a beautiful area, with a nice wide pull off spot so that you can take pictures of this marker, and find a cache. Just steps away from the marker is a small container geocache with room to hide some treasures for others.

If this is not the Largest Arrowhead in WV please send pictures of one that is larger!
