『天明鋳物（てんみょういもの）』とは、下野の国佐野天明（栃木県佐野市）の地で作られた作品、佐野の鋳物師（いもじ）によって作られた作品をいいます。さらに、佐野の鋳物業そのものを指す場合もあります。
～ 天明鋳物の起源 ～
天明鋳物の起こりは、天慶年間（９３８～９４７）に河内国丹南（たんなん）（現：大阪府南部）から５名の鋳物師が移住し、藤原秀郷の命により兵器類を鋳造したのが始まりと伝えられています。
''Tenmyou imono" refers to works made in Sano Tenmyou, Shimono-no-kuni (Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture), and works made by Sano's foundrymen (imoji). It may also refer to the foundry industry of Sano itself.
～ Origin of Tenmyou imono 〜
The origin of Tenmyou imono is said to date back to the Tenkei period (938-947), when five founders from Tannan in Kawachi Province (now southern Osaka Prefecture) moved to Sano and started casting weapons at the order of Fujiwara Hidesato.

2023年 栃木県民の日
栃木県民の日に制定されている6月15日は1873年に旧栃木県と宇都宮県が合併し栃木県が誕生した日です。この日を記念して、2023年の県民の日に栃木にゆかりのあるジオキャッシャーが募りキャッシュを公開しました。
