På Ansnes hadde tyskerne et kystfort (HKB 20/972 Ansnes (1/444)). Kystfortet var en del av Artillerigruppe Senja og bestod av 4 stykker 10,5 cm K332(f) kanoner med skuddvidde på 16000 m. Batteriet ble oppsatt i Hamburg i 1942 og sendt til Norge. Ble satt opp her på Ansnes i juni 1942.
Artillerigruppe Senja bestod av kystfortene Brensholmen, Ansnes, Rødberghamn, Grunnreisa, Austien og Varden (under bygging da krigen sluttet).

Nede på ved sjøen ute på neset var minst en av kanonene plassert med tilhørende bunkere. Ettersigende var det også satt opp noen falske kanoner i tre for at anlegget skulle fremstå enda mer avskrekkende.
Tyskerne hadde flyttet 3 samfunnshus fra ulike steder i Malangen til Ansnes. De fungerte som innkvartering for soldatene. Samfunnshusene stod på rekke nedenfor veien mellom Seljebreget og selve Ansnes der det i dag er dyrket mark.
Fra cachen har man fin utikt til bukta på sørøstsiden av neset der det var en fangeleir med russiske krigsfanger. De var der for å arbeide med byggingen av kystfortet.

At Ansnes the Germans had a coastal fort (HKB 20/972 Ansnes (1/444)). The coastal fort was part of Artillerigruppe Senja and consisted of 4 pieces of 10.5 cm K332(f) guns with a range of 16,000 m. The battery was set up in Hamburg in 1942 and sent to Norway. It was set up here at Ansnes in June 1942.

Down by the sea out on the headland, at least one of the cannons was located with associated bunkers. According to reports, some fake wooden cannons were also set up to make the facility appear even more deterrent.
The Germans had moved 3 community buildings from various places in Malangen to Ansnes. They served as accommodation for the soldiers. The community houses stood in a row below the main road between Seljebreget and Ansnes itself, where today there is cultivated land.
From the cache you have a nice view to the bay on the southeast side of the headland where there was a prison camp with Russian prisoners of war. They were there to work on the construction of the coastal fort.
