This is the site of the former Uchiko Station on the Ehime Railway Uchiko Line, which opened in 1920.
It seems that the station was used for shipping lumber until 1986, when it was relocated to the current Uchiko Station. Also, the station name plate in the current Uchiko Station square is that of the former Uchiko Station, which was located here.

1986年に現在の内子駅に移転するまでの間、木材の出荷に利用されていたようです。また、現在の内子駅前広場にある駅名票はここにあった旧内子駅のものです。
