Geocache Description:

Geocachers who log “Attended” on thie Event will receive the official Maker Magic souvenir (Only one per account).

For the people who use a 12 hour clock like me the event is from 6:30PM to 8:30PM on Wednesday June 21.

Do you still need to hide a cache?

Are you having problems with getting coordinates to place a cache?

Do you need help with listing a new cache?

Do you want to place better caches?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then you need to come to this event. We plan to make this a truly enjoyable time to learn everything or almost everything you will need to know about hiding that geocache.

The following is a tentative schedule for the event and could change but it will give you an idea of what to expect:

  1. 6:30-6:45 Mingle and go in our back yard to the special location and record the coordinates to enter a drawing... (rain or shine)
  2. 6:45-7:00 Discuss how you get the best coordinates when placing a cache (we use a handheld GPS and sometimes our Android phone).
  3. 7:00-7:15 Cache containers and what makes them just okay, good or great! What size is this cache? Guess the size and win a prize!
  4. 7:15-7:30 Brainstorming: I have 3 ideas I need your help with. Help me get designs completed on 3 of my creative ideas. One is a rebuild of an existing cache I want to improve on (GC394MY). One is to take action on a gift from a dear caching friend (he gave me this years ago, I mean years ago) and the final idea is just that an idea and something I have not seen before.

  5. 7:30-7:45 Listing your cache for publication and what the reviewer expects you to tell them!
  6. 7:45-8:00 After it is listed, taking care of your cache. This will cover maintenance, when to archive or not, and of course taking action on those pesky reviewer notes.
  7. 8:00-830 Make a cache or just hang out. We will have drawings for a few containers/setups. You are welcome to bring you own ideas and stuff to work on. We have tools to use if you need them. We even have lots of vials to attach to hosts if you would like one.

Some things you might find helpful: bring a lawn chair, bring an open mind, bring your thinking cap, bring a drink if you don't like water (it might be hot we will have some water bottles and if they run out we have water and ice on tap). After the event is over it is okay to stay longer and sit around and talk. Bring your trackables to exchange as well. If it is raining we will move to inside the garage but space could become an issue.

We really hope to see you at this event! If you plan on attending a "will attend log" will help us prepare better but they are not required. If you are unsure of being at the correct location our house number is 177 Pleasant Valley Drive. See you soon!
