MK23 Wildlife Trail K - Konik Ponies
We're back at the Floodplain Nature Reserve at Wolverton for our next animal, the second largest animal in our trail. The Konik Ponies are a wild breed and are deliberately not handled very often so that they retain their wild side. They are though incredibly placid and hark back to one of the types of animals that grazed the Ouse Valley 5000 years ago.
The introduction of the Konik Ponies who are ideal grazers in lowland wetland sites is the perfect breed to encourage biodiversity as they closely crop some areas of grassland leaving other areas of long vegetation untouched.
Please don't feed them.

This is one of 26 caches celebrating the flora and fauna of Milton Keynes, it's not just concrete cows and roundabouts. How many of our different plants and animals can you spot in our City? Please do add photos to yours logs
All the caches are on a walk near Willen Lake and can be easily navigated. They are all available from running the Wherigo cartridge which is available here: MK23 Wildlife Trail
Thank you to the Parks Trust and MKGees for their help and permission to set these caches.
