La cache si trova davanti all'ingresso monumentale dello stadio Artemio Franchi,sede degli incontri calcistici della Fiorentina.Progettato da Pier Luigi Nervi su iniziativa del marchese Luigi Ridolfi da Verrazzano, lo stadio venne inaugurato il 13 settembre 1931 sull'area in cui sorgeva l'aerodromo di Firenze-Campo di Marte. Intitolata inizialmente a Giovanni Berta, nel dopoguerra la struttura divenne "stadio Comunale", ottenendo l'attuale denominazione nel 1991 in onore di Artemio Franchi. L'impianto, che può ospitare 43 147 spettatori, è il quinto stadio italiano per capienza. Esempio di architettura razionalista è noto come una delle più innovative architetture italiane tra le due guerre, è ricco di elementi innovativi e avveniristici per l'epoca, come la pensilina priva di sostegni intermedi, le scale elicoidali e la torre di Maratona che con i suoi 75 m è la quinta costruzione più alta della città. Ancora oggi ci sono molti dibattiti se la forma a D dello stadio e il motivo delle grate bianche dell'ingresso monumentale siano stati fatti per onorare il partito fascista, che ai tempi della costruzione dello stadio era al potere. Lo stadio Artemio Franchi ha ospitato diverse partite di calcio internazionali, in particolare durante la Coppa del Mondo del 1934, le Olimpiadi del 1960, il campionato europeo del 1968 e la Coppa del Mondo del 1990, venendo ristrutturato per quest'occasione alla fine degli anni ottanta eliminando la pista di atletica.
