Harnessing energy from wind involves the use of a turbine to convert air motion into electricity. The turbine has several spinning blades attached to an electromagnetic generator that produces electricity when the wind causes the blades to spin.in
In the Limestone Coast the Wind Farms are the Canunda Wind Farm & Lake Bonney Wind Farm which can been seen from many kilometres away. They look very small from a distance but up close you can see the real size of them.
Lake Bonney Wind Farm
The 278.5 MW wind farm comprises 112 wind turbines. The wind farm generates enough renewable energy to power approximately 131,700 homes each year.
Canunda Wind Farm
Comprises 23 Turbines, 46 MW of electricity generation powering 30,000 homes. The turbine blade spans 39 metre & has wind speeds of up to 90km/hr.
