Kiss Me Goodbyeย ๐ย
1015-1200
Saturday 8th July 2023
ย
Himalayan Balsam (aka kiss-me-on-the-mountain)ย is an invasive plant species that thrives along river banks in the UK. If left unchecked it will dominate the riverbank and and displace native plant species. Because it has shallow roots, it can also result in erosion of river banks as it does not help bind the soil.ย
ย
For this CITO, we will help a local conservation group to try and eradicate Himalayan balsam from the River Stort.
ย
Weโll meet at the war memorial from 1015 to sign in, then begin the work at 1030. We will work through until approximately 1200hrs.
ย
Please note the D/T of this CITO. It will involve working on steep, sometimes slippery river banks with head high nettles, and may also involve entry into the river. If you are happy to enter the water, please bring wellies and waders.ย Everyone will need to wear long trousers and long sleeved tops, andย bring gloves too.
ย
Everyone is welcome - including any visitors just passing by :-)
