Bruce Springsteen, everyone knows him. A rock icon from New Jersey, he is a prolific singer-songwriter, first with bands such as the Castiles and Steel Mill and later with his own Bruce Springsteen Band and the E Street Band.
His biggest early push was in 1974 when music critic John Landau wrote "I saw rock and roll's future, and its name is Bruce Springsteen. And on a night when I needed to feel young, he made me feel like I was hearing music for the very first time." Landau helped produce Springsteen's next album Born To Run, which came out the following year to rave reviews around the world.
Through the 1970s, not only was he creating his own hit songs, but Springsteen-written tracks also made big splashes for other artists like Manfred Mann's Earth Band (Blinded By The Light), Patti Smith (Because The Night) and the Pointer Sisters (Fire).
Springsteen's biggest hit album without a doubt was Born In The USA, released in 1984. It remains one of the biggest selling albums of alltime, and boasted 7 top-10 singles (out of an album listing 12 tracks total).
His incredible resume includes many hit singles and albums, wide ranging charity work and activism, induction to the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, a Superbowl halftime show, a Broadway show, 4 AMAs, an Academy Award, 2 Golden Globes, and 20! Grammys. Also, a Juno award.
