Kashtin were a folk-rock duo from the Maliotenam reservation in Quebec. The two musicians, Claude McKenzie and Florent Vollant, sang in their native Innu-aimun language and became one of the most commercially successful and famous First Nations musical groups ever. They had strong singles in Quebec, English Canada, Greenland and France in the early 1990s before eventually breaking up in 1994.
At the posted is a historic plaque that has nothing to do with the band, but is a very interesting story nonetheless. Take the year of Dr. Craine's death, divide it by 1000 and add it to the North and West minutes of the following dummy coordinates:
N 44° 52.153' W 75° 59.162'
Kashtin - Ishkuess
