Geocache Description:
This is an introduction to a new series on the numerous bridges that cross Deer Creek. I have counted as many as 30 bridges. As of this time, I have not visited all of them. This location is on Cherry Hill Road north of Bel Air on Route 24 in Rocks State Park.
Deer Creek in Harford County flows West to East and is 52.9 miles long. Located in Pennsylvania and Maryland, the creek rises near Shrewsbury in York County P.A. and empties into the Susquehanna River just south of the Conowingo Dam.
The Creek Flows thru:
1. Hidden Valley Natural Area
2. Eden Mill Nature Center
3. Rocks State Park
4. Palmer State Park
5. Susquehanna State Park
6. 4-H Camp in Rocks
Kilgore Falls, the second-highest vertical waterfall in Maryland and Featured in the Disney movie Tuck Everlasting is not far from Deer Creek.
Most likely the creek was named by Native Americans.
Numerous gristmills along the banks played an essential role in the early growth of the county.

4. Walters
5. Wileys
6. Amos
Today the creek provides activities such as swimming, fishing, canoeing/kayaking, boating, and tubing. The creek supported the last known population of "Maryland Dartar".

The cache is located near the Cherry Hill Road Bridge.

It is a Historical Landmark. There are weight restrictions. The 4-H camp is close by.
