Geocache Description:

02 July 2023, 11:00 - 13:00

Finding a great geocache can make for an awe-inspiring adventure, but those adventures do not magically appear on their own. They are concocted inside the brilliant mind of a Geocache Maker. This crazy thing we call geocaching would simply not exist without the people who channel their creativity and innovative spirit into making great experiences for others.

Groundspeak have declared the 13th of June to the 3rd of July as Maker Magic Season! Join us to celebrate, share inspiration, discuss ideas about making geocaches and earn an official Groundspeak Souvenir.

Event Date: Sunday, 2nd July 2023

Event Time: 11:00 am – 13:00 pm

Where: Eastham Ferry, Wirral, CH62 0AU.

The event will be on the grass area with views over the River Mersey. Although there are some benches, please bring your own fold up seats or rugs to sit on.

There are two ‘Pay & Display’ car parks (at the Country park and Riverside), plus free roadside parking close to the event location. Close by, for food and drink there are two pubs, an ice cream/snack parlour and a quirky Tea garden. Public toilets are a short walk away in the courtyard next to the Country Park car park.

What:

Cache containers are only limited by the imagination of their creators. They vary from complex puzzle boxes that are very difficult to open, to themed containers like plastic birds (with logsheets attached or inside) that can be fastened to the branches of trees.

This event will be demonstrating various homemade cache containers. There will be some on display, and in the case of puzzle boxes, attendees can attempt to open them. Please bring one (or more) of your own containers to show to attendees.

After the event you may wish to explore Eastham woods. It has a Bear Pit (but thankfully no bears!) remaining from when a zoo and pleasure gardens were very popular Victorian attractions. In the woods there are also many existing geocaches, plus a set of Adventure Labcaches that lead you around the country park.
