Do you know about Saigon Park in Mississauga? Opened in May of 2022, this park recognizes the Vietnamese-Canadian community who found refuge in Canada during the Fall of Saigon in April 1975. The park features the beautiful and ecologically important Lake Saigon, a 1KM walking trail, fitness zones, two pavillions, and an art installation titled "A Year in Weather". Along the trail are placards detailing the journey for those forced out of Saigon at the end of the Vietnam war.
The event runs from 2PM to 3PM, but feel free to stay longer and enjoy the view, as well as the traditional, multi, and Earth caches surrounding the lake,
Garbage bags will be provided but please bring your own gloves and any TOTTs for garbage retrival.
I recently toured the park. There is not a lot of prominent waste here (like coffee cups, etc.) but there are many areas (espescially the terrace) where there is a lot of smaller debris (bottle caps, cigarette butts) that can be picked up and disposed of.
I look forward to seeing you here!
