Oli aasta 1905, kui alanud revolutsioon ajas rahva kihevile ning pani mõisaid rüüstama ja põletama. Ametlikel andmetel Are mõisa, ehk siis Arrohofi kätte jõudis kord kuueteistkümnendal detsembril, kui rahvahulk eesotsas sepp Jakob Weltmani ja sepapois Gustav Matsukesega süütas peahoone. Sellele omakorda järgnes tsaari poolt saadetud karistussalkade saabumine major Veršinini juhtimisel. Kogu kihelkonnas hukati kokku kümme inimest, nende seas ka sepp ja sepapoiss. Sepp maeti mõisapargi serva, oletatavasti siiakanti. Kas nad ka süüdi olid? Jumal seda teab… Rahva andmetel oli sepp küll põletamise ajal kohal, kuid sepapoissi seal polnud…
