The UCF nature trails are one of the best kept secrets on campus. 14 miles of peaceful Florida habitat await nature lovers who are looking for adventure right outside their front door. These trails explore 20 unique different habitat types, including basin swamps and marshes, scrubby flatwoods, xeric hammock, and wet prairie, to name a few. There are picnic tables throughout these trails where you can enjoy a meal with friends or sit and watch the wildlife. With so many miles of trails, you can spend the day or just a half hour decompressing out in nature.
This multi cache will take you on one of the newer trails in the arboretum. The Black Bear Loop, red trail on the map, will take you on a roller coaster through the eastern side of the trail system. At the posted coordinates, you'll find an intersection with multiple trails in a variety of directions. There is a newer wooden sign at the posted coordinates. In order to obtain the final coordinates where the ammo can is hidden, answer the following question. The correct answer will yield the correct location.
What is written on the wooden sign?
A. ARBORETUM - N 028 35.811 W 081 11.070
B. KNIGHTRO WAY - N 028 35.778 W 081 11.066
C. UCF MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAIL - N 028 35.728 W 081 11.067
D. KNIGHTS RIDGE - N 028 35.859 W 081 11.071
The trail you will be on is posted as One Way. From the posted coordinates, you'll head one way to the cache location. Once you find the ammo can, continue on the trail for roughly 0.1 and you'll intersect with the main hiking trail and can make a loop back to the trailhead and then back to your vehicle.
