Staff shift-changes happen between 6-8AM, 2-4PM, and 6-8PM so there will be a lot more foot-traffic during those hours. Plan accordingly.
UPMC Jameson, formerly Jameson Memorial Hospital, first opened on August 22,1929 when the population of New Castle was around 48,000. David Jameson was a co-founder of Citizens National Bank. In October of 1926 he announced that he was going to fund the building of a new hospital but died in March of 1927 before construction had begun. The first iteration of the hospital was much smaller than what you see today. Standing in this courtyard you can look up at the walls and see differences in the brick patterns and styles from the multiple additions that have occurred since 1929. The population of New Castle has declined to about 21,000 but the hospital remains a valuable part of the city. Not just for providing healthcare services but also as one of the area's largest employers.
