Geocache Description:

This is a hunters trail along the Schuylkill River. At one time this was a desilting basin used to clean coal silt from the river.  There are remnants of the process hidden along the trails.  For more historical information please read:  http://www.racc.edu/sites/default/files/imported/History of SRN

Trail bikes and quads do use these trails although motorized vehicles are prohibited.  Be aware if motorcycle sounds are approaching.

Enjoy the sounds of nature.

This is the gateway to a system of dirt bike trails that encompass the coal silt basin along this bend in the Schuylkill River. If you have time to explore the vast trail system you will find a diverse ecology, wildflowers, trees, birds, and forest animals. Be sure to mark a waypoint for parking or the entrance to this area. It will be easy to get turned around or confused on the many trails.  Where the trails converge take the right hand trail although the one to the left will get you to this cache also.

Happy Caching!

Please be aware of the two private roads in the area that are marked. At the first Y take the left road and at the second Y take the right road. This is a public access road with private property on both sides.

This area is open for public hunting. Be sure to wear ORANGE during hunting season!
