This cache is part of a series named after wild berries that are found in the area. Not all are recommended as edible. If you are not sure,
don't pick it....don't eat it!
Another choice berry, Saskatoons are edible and highly prized, particularly if they are found near a water source that tends to make them juicier! They can be eaten freshly picked from fairly tall bushes, but they are excellent in pies, jams and baked goods! First Nations people have eaten them fresh or dried, and have added them to bannock for generations!
You are travelling along the Wilkie Main Line (WML)) running beside Hwy 39 near Mackenzie. FSR’s are used by industrial vehicles as well as by people hunting, fishing, collecting firewood, berry picking etc! Clouds of dust can be picked up by passing vehicles! The caches along this road have been placed where you can easily pull over to allow vehicles to pass! Each cache has a photo showing the parking area! Caches are within metres of parking! You are in bear country, so be Bear Aware! Have fun searching for all of the caches in this series!
