Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series named after wild berries that are found in the area. Not all are recommended as edible. If you are not sure,

don't pick it....don't eat it!

Bearberry/Kinnikinnick is a low, trailing shrub with berries that are NOT recommended for eating! The leaves of the berry bush were dried and smoked by several First Nations groups. The berries would usually be soaked in water, grease or seal oil to reduce their dryness and and make them more palatable! Bearberry/Kinnikinnick is also a diuretic!

You are travelling along the Causeway Forest Service Road (CFSR) running beside Hwy 39 near Mackenzie. FSR’s are used by industrial vehicles as well as by people hunting, fishing, collecting firewood, berry picking etc! Clouds of dust can be picked up by passing vehicles! The caches along this road have been placed where you can easily pull over to allow vehicles to pass! Each cache has a photo showing the parking area!  Caches are within metres of parking! You are in bear country, so be Bear Aware! Have fun searching for all of the caches in this series!
