Geocaching 101 Class
What is geocaching?
According to Wikipedia "Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world."
Who - anyone can attend. Children must have an adult attending with them.
What - FREE class teaching the basics of geocaching and everything you need to know to get started.
When - Saturday July 8th, 3pm to 4 pm
Where- Campbell County Public Library
Why - to teach newcomers about geocaching and to grow the geocaching community in Gillette. Geocaching is a way to learn about the environment and help clean it up. Cache in, trash out is a common activity. Earthcaches (developed by the Geological Society of America) provide educational lessons about the physical geography of the caches region.
Class presented by Jaren Long (WesternMoonCacher) local Geocaching enthusiast and Dave Manning (Smile Makers) local Geocaching expert with over 6,000 finds and over 400 hides. In partnership with the Campbell County Library.
