Goathland, or Aidensfield as it was known in the popular tv series Heartbeat, is a small village set in the North York Moors. The drama ran from 1992 to 2010, with 372 episodes over 18 series and centered around the day to day life of a 1960s village bobby, initially played by Nick Berry. Other notable characters were Claude Jeremiah Greengrass, played by Bill Maynard, Sgt Oscar Blaketon-Derek Fowlds, Pc Alf Ventriss-William Simons and Barmaid Gina Ward - Tricia Penrose. Each episode had a different story, however some stories ran through 2 or more episodes and characters were replaced with others as cast members came and left. Alongside the local bobby was a Doctors surgery, the village pub, a garage, Ashfordly Hall and a lovable dog called Alfred. The backdrop was 60s music and beautiful scenery.
