Geocache Description:

Holmesglen Valley

Bio-Filter Wetland

Design and construction of the bio-filter was a joint project between Monash City Council and Melbourne Water to establish a native landscaped seasonal wetland and rain garden in Holmesglen Reserve, as part of the Living Rivers and Offset Programs.

The wetland is planted with a dense cover of wetland plants and covers an area 3,000 square metres, with a further 1,500 square metres planted with dryland plants.

The wetland retains stormwater and bio-filters it before it enters Gardiners Creek. It also provides habitat for native birds and other wildlife and improves amenity for the Holmesglen area.

For more information you can visit City of Monash Rain Gardens. LINK

Bio-Filter

I recommend seeking this Letterbox Hybrid at night time.
Bring a strong torch. Be careful where you tread.

At the posted cooordinates you are standing at a pair of signs. Take a good look at them.
These signs tell you a little bit about the area, where to find certain features and what is and is not allowed here.
One of these signs directs you towards the bio-filter. (All the information you need is on this sign)
(If you are not sure which way to go, start by using your GPSr to navigate to FROG.)
You will find FROG just past the Viewing Platform at: S 37° 52.ABC' E 145° 5.XYZ'
A = Viewing Platform
B = Jingella Reserve
C = Harlequin Rugby Club
X = Number of green attributes
Y = Number of red attributes
Z = Number of letters in the second green attribute
FROG will will tell you where to find OWL.
Follow the reflector trail from FROG. You will soon see OWL looking down upon you. (2 reflectors).
OWL will lead you to TURTLE. Sight along the fallen tree to continue. (More reflectors)
TURTLE has hidden the Bio-Filter under her shell. (Another 2 reflectors, at ground level)

About Letterboxing

Letterboxing is an intriguing “treasure hunt” style outdoor activity. Letterboxers hide small, weatherproof boxes in publicly-accessible places (like parks) and post clues to finding the box online on one of several Web sites. However, clues to finding some of the most highly-sought boxes are passed around by word of mouth.

This letterbox contains:
A Geocaching Information Card.
Some pencils and Sharpener.
A Log Book to record your stamp or your caching name.
A Frog Stamp, for your records.
Please use the frog stamp to record the find in your personal album.
(Return it into the cache after use)

There are a few small swaps. (The stamp is not one of them) Please trade fair.
Inside the inner container there is enough room for smaller travel bugs.
Check carefully, there may be some travelers inside already.

Please be gentle with the decorations.
A special thank you to our youngest son (Ly0nsPride) for the decals.

I have left an unactivated Signal GeoCoin for the first to find.
