Intrigued when I went to Cub Cave cache at the "Lost Boys Beach", my sister and I went around the point with all the agate hunters, and it was low enough tide to tell we could walk through the cave!--a MONSTROUS cave through the headland on a sandy floor, so enticing and like a fairy tale. Then a sneaker wave came and we were shocked out of stupidity.
I REALLY wanted to go back. A secret beach? Pristine agate hunting since the beach is rarely accessible? GIANT cave? Photos of groups at the mouth? Looked up the best times, and July 4th is out (muggly), but July 5? Gotta do it.
This event is ON the Lost Boys beach, at the Cave Mouth on the far side. I'll be there! Get Cub Cave on the way in or out, or get Lost Boys if you wish, or just agate hunt and come for the remarkable geologic feature, or just 'cause. I want to explore this place. The low tide is -2.5 at 8:38, so we go over and meet on Lost Boys beach and the event ends ready to go back safely. As this is ONLY a safe passage a few times a year, and there is always the rare chance of a rogue wave, the T rating should be respected. Bring a back or three if you're an agate hunter, as it's prime territory.
If you choose after the event, the tide is low enough to still be low to race over to King of the Hill or Proposal Rock or Arch Cape if you are going for an epic weekend, but that's on you!
If I haven't scared you off...see you there!
