Geocache Description:

In an average year Ontario gets about 11 full scale tornadoes and 70 "downbursts". In this area, there are reports of tornadoes from 1922. Thanks to Russ Kitchen (Kayakers2) who recalls that it was 2002 when the most recent tornado blew through this area, ripping down some of the trees you will see on your paddle around these Crown Islands in Cordova Lake. Most of the downed trees have managed to hold on to enough root to stay alive. Survivors !!

Water Geocaching can be a lot of fun, but it comes with some challenges. Please check wind speed and direction as it can mean all the difference in the world while paddling. This lake can be very windy so plan a day when the wind speed doesn't exceed 15kph especially with the added gusts which could be double that. Have fun and stay safe.
