5. Loon Island Traditional Cache

While canoeing in and around the little Crown Islands with our Swedish guest, we suddenly encountered a whole family of loons. Papa loon was not at all happy with us being so close to his wife and baby and he reared himself vertically while paddling madly with his feet. I've never seen anything like it. Then he stuck his breast  way out and spread his wings to make himself look as large as possible, hooting at us the entire time. It was quite intimidating actually, and we decided to paddle away as quickly as possible and give them a lot of space.
