Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series named after wild berries that are found in the area. Not all are recommended as edible. If you are not sure,

don't pick it....don't eat it!

Wild Sarsaparilla berries are edible and have a tart, sour flavour although they are not harvested in any great quantity! First Nations people used the plant as a diuretic, and to promote sweating and cough relief!

You are travelling along the Causeway Forest Service Road (CFSR) running beside Hwy 39 near Mackenzie. FSR’s are used by industrial vehicles as well as by people hunting, fishing, collecting firewood, berry picking etc! Clouds of dust can be picked up by passing vehicles! The caches along this road have been placed where you can easily pull over to allow vehicles to pass! Each cache has a photo showing the parking area!  Caches are within metres of parking! You are in bear country, so be Bear Aware! Have fun searching for all of the caches in this series!

The road at the coordinates leads to an old, unused Mackenzie Scout Camp. All of the buildings have been demolished.
