The old St Mark Anglican Church was awooden building which was consecrated on 29th January 1905 by Rev C.F. Hose D. D. Bishop of Singapore, Labuan and Sarawak. The Malayan Parishioners were administered from Singapore. The church was well attended by the local people as well as the expatriates during the colonial years.

On the night of 2nd August 1967, the ol wooden church was completely gutted by a fire. Everything including a rare pipe organ were destroyed. The present church building is a blend of the conventional and modern school of thought in its design. The new church building was declared opened by Tun V. T. Sambanthan and consecrated by RT Rev Joshua Chiu, the Lord Bishop of Singapore and Malaya on 22 November 1969.
