Pe latura apuseana a Carpatilor orientali ,spre Podisul Transilvania ,se afla ramura muntilor vulcanici despartiti in 2 grupe ; una nordica :OAS-GUTII-TIBLES si una sudica : CALIMAN-GURGHIU-HARGHITA. Ei se intind pe o lungime de 300 km fiind diferentiati atat ca altitudine cat si la largime (ajung la peste 40 km dezvoltare maxima) de celelalte mari unitati muntoase din cadrul Carpatilor Orietali.
On the western side of the Eastern Carpathians, towards the Transilvania Plateau, there is a branch of volcanic mountains divided into 2 groups; a northern one: OAS-GUTII-TIBLES and a southern one: CALIMAN-GURGHIU-HARGHITA. They stretch over a length of 300 km, being differentiated both in altitude and in width (they reach over 40 km of maximum development) from the other large mountain units within the Eastern Carpathians.
A Keleti-Kárpátok nyugati oldalán, az Erdélyi fennsík felé egy vulkáni eredetű hegység ága húzódik, amely 2 csoportra oszlik; egy északi: Avas-Gutin-Cibles és egy déli: Kelemen-Görgényi-Hargita. 300 km hosszan terülnek el, és mind magasságban, mind szélességben (maximális kiterjedésük meghaladja a 40 km-t) különböznek a Keleti-Kárpátok többi nagy hegyegységétől.
