Kamniško Savinjske Alpe se skoraj v celoti nahajajo na ozemlju Slovenije. Najvišji vrh omenjenih Alp je Grintovec, ki s svojimi 2558 m spada tudi med najvišje vrhove države. Ime so dobile po mestu Kamnik in reki Savinji. Kamniško Savinjske Alpe sestavljajo tri večje gorske skupine.
Skupina Storžica (2132 m) se nahaja zahodno od reke Kokre in južno od Karavank.
Skupina osrednjih Grintovcev se nahaja vzhodno od reke Kokre. Najvišji vrh je Grintovec (2558 m), ki pa je le nekaj metrov višji od sosednjih vrhov. V tej skupini se nahaja tudi edini ledenik v Kamniških in Savinjskih Alpah, ledenik pod Skuto, ki pa se iz leta v leto manjša.
Tretja skupina pa so visoke kraške planote, kjer je prostrana planota Veža ali Dleskovška planota. Le ta se strmo dviga nad dolino Lučke bele in Robanovega kota in je polna kraških jam in brezen. V to skupino spadajo še planote kot so Velika planina, Menina planina, Golte, Smrekovško pogorje in Raduha.

Die Kamnik-Savinja-Alpen liegen fast vollständig auf dem Gebiet Sloweniens. Der höchste Gipfel der genannten Alpen ist Grintovec, der mit seinen 2558 m auch einer der höchsten Gipfel des Landes ist. Sie wurden nach der Stadt Kamnik und dem Fluss Savinja benannt. Die Kamnik Savinja Alpen bestehen aus drei großen Gebirgsgruppen. Die Storžič-Gruppe (2132 m) liegt westlich des Flusses Kokra und südlich von Karavanke. Die Gruppe der zentralen Grintovci liegt östlich des Flusses Kokra. Der höchste Gipfel ist Grintovec (2558 m), der nur wenige Meter höher ist als die Nachbargipfel. Zu dieser Gruppe gehört auch der einzige Gletscher in den Kamniške und Savinja-Alpen, der Gletscher unter Skuta, der von Jahr zu Jahr schrumpft.
