Wapaloosie Mountain #9
Wapaloosie is #9 on the Eastern Washingtons Highest Peaks list according to the book written by James P. Johnson on his book of the 50 highest mountains in Eastern Washington. The elevation is 7018 feet for the top. We started our hike up from the Wapaloosie trailhead where we were camped. We hiked up to cache GC1E08T then hiked to the summit from there. From that cache it is an easier hike up.
From that trailhead is a little over 3 miles one way with 2000' elevation gain. So it is a pretty good hike. But as with everything, how hard depends on each individuals abilities.
I actually did the hike again the next day as I wanted to summit Scar Mtn. Sadly the deadfall about a mile north of Wapaloosie was real bad and I could not even tell where the trail went.
The trail at the time of this cache placement up to Wapaloosie was great, no issues.
Enjoy this hike!
