Keška je součástí CQ série 43 kešek v 8 evropských státech, šest z nich se nachází v České republice, zbylé pak v Německu, Maďarsku, Slovensku, Bulharsku, Rumunsku, Litvě a Lotyšsku. V České republice vás tato série zavede na zajímavá místa, která se dotýkají klimatické změny.

Vzdělávání je zásadním faktorem v boji proti změně klimatu. A teď si představte, jaké to musí být, strávit svá studentská léta na nejekologičtější univerzitě v Česku! Česká zemědělská univerzita (ČZU) je v oblasti adaptace a mitigace změn klimatu opravdovou jedničkou.

Kombinace adaptačních a mitigačních opatření je nedílnou (nikoliv však jedinou) součástí strategie v boji proti dopadům klimatické změny. Nevíte co si pod těmito termíny představit? Pojem mitigace neboli zmírňování dopadů je spojován s předcházením jevu. Zahrnuje např. snižování emisí skleníkových plynů, výrobu energie z udržitelných zdrojů a její efektivní využívání nebo třeba obnovování krajiny.
Naproti tomu adaptační mechanismy se už snaží s nastalými dopady nějak vyrovnat a zároveň do určité míry připravují krajinu na nevyhnutelnou budoucnost. Týkají se např. hospodaření s vodou, opatření proti extrémním jevům počasí, ozeleňování měst nebo skladby pěstovaných plodin. Všechny mitigační i adaptační aktivity protínají sektory napříč společností a vyžadují obrovskou míru spolupráce na různých úrovních.

Vy máte nyní jedinečnou příležitost prozkoumat adaptační a mitigační přístupy využívající nejmodernější technologie na jednom místě. V areálu kampusu ČZU totiž najdete zelené stěny a střechy s fotovoltaikou, systém zachytávání dešťové vody propojený s jímkami a retenční nádrží nebo experimentální park pro výzkum funkční zahradní a krajinářské architektury Arboretum Libosad, kde se nachází i tato keška. Zastavit se můžete i za studentkami a studenty v cirkulárním centru Freeshop nebo v obchodě s Fairtrade a bezobalovým zbožím.

Lámete si hlavu, k čemu odkazuje tajuplný název této kešky? Málokdo ví, že exteriéry areálu ČZU byly využity jako kulisy legendárního seriálu Nemocnice na kraji města.

In the Czech Republic, this caches will take you to interesting places that are somehow connected with climate change.

Education is a key factor in the fight against climate change. And now imagine what it must be like to spend your student years at the most ecological university in the Czech Republic! The Czech University of Life Sciences (CULS) is a true leader in the field of adaptation and mitigation of climate change.

The combination of adaptation and mitigation steps is an integral (but not the only) part of the strategy to combat the effects of climate change. Don't know what to imagine under these terms? The concept of mitigation is associated with the prevention of the climate change phenomenon. It includes, for example, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, producing energy from sustainable sources and using it efficiently, or regenerating the landscape.
On the other hand, mechanisms of adaptation are trying to cope with the impacts and are at the same time preparing the landscape for an inevitable future. They concern, for example, water management, measures against extreme weather events, urban greening or the composition of cultivated crops. All mitigation and adaptation activities include all sectors across society and require a huge degree of cooperation at different levels.

You now have a unique opportunity to explore state-of-the-art adaptation and mitigation approaches in one place. In the CULS campus you will find green walls and roofs with photovoltaics, a rainwater harvesting system connected to cisterns and a retention tank or an experimental park for research of functional garden and landscape architecture Arboretum Libosad, where the cache is hidden. You can also stop by the Freeshop Circular Center or the Fairtrade store.

Wondering what the mysterious name of this cache refers to? The exteriors of the ČZU campus were used as backdrops for the legendary TV series Hospital at the End of the City.
