A simple nano cache to commemorate a unique entrance to a nice beach.
The Hollicombe Gas Works once stood here — it was closed in the 1970s and this section was redeveloped into a park in 1979.
The circular areas of grass used to be duck ponds, they were filled in about ten years ago.
The tunnel which now provides access to Hollicombe Beach used to discharge effluent waste into the sea, thankfully it's suitable for pedestrians nowadays!
The beach is usually quiet but the park is a popular dog-walking / jogging spot, and also forms part of the South West Coast Path, so stealth may be needed. There is limited free parking on the main road (heading towards Paignton) so can be done as a quick cache + dash.
