This is a quick park and stroll in the northbound rest area along I-75 as you enter Gainesville (aka THE SWAMP) at the north edge of Paynes Prairie. Gainesville is the county seat of Alachua County, Florida, and the largest city in North Central Florida. Gainesville is home to the University of Florida, the fourth-largest public university campus by enrollment in the United States . The university hosts the Florida Gators sports teams in the NCAA competitions; Gainesville is considered the most alligator-dense city in the USA, with many places where you can see free-roaming alligators from an entirely safe vantage point.

At the cache you are overlooking Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park, one of Central Florida's most important and sensitive ecosystems, now designated as a National Natural Landmark.
As usual in Florida, keep your eyes out for creepy crawlies and snakes on your way to and from this cache. In order to ensure the longevity of this hide, please replace exactly as found.
