Geocache Description:

17 September 2023, 09:30 - 11:00

Let's meet for a hike and some GeoChatting!

When:  Sunday September 17th, 2023 from 9:30-11;00

Where: Turtle River State Park, Hollows Ridge Trial. Park at the park office.

Why: For the third year, the North Dakota Park & Recreation Department (NDPRD) has issued a statewide “12 Months – 12 Hikes” Challenge.  To participate, just pick and hike one of the 22 qualifying trails in one of the 14 participating state parks and recreation areas.  You have the entire month to complete a hike.   You can complete your hikes all in one park or explore any of 14 locations across the state.   New this year: If you miss a month, you can complete your hikes on one of the six bonus hiking trails with partnering park districts to help you meet your challenge.

The North Dakota Geocaching Association (NDGCA) would like to help everyone complete the hiking challenge.  To do this, we will be hosting an event in a different state park each month, so we can get together with other geocachers.

What:  Let's complete the September hike on the Hollows Ridge Trail. We will meet at the parking lot and take off to the trailhead at 9:45. The trail is about 1.74 mile long. This scenic trail begins at the Visitor Center and goes by the Hillside Picnic Area.  This wooded trail winds through the hillsides and along the river corridor.   Portions of this trail are groomed for Fat Tire Bikes and hiking, and others for cross-country skiing in the winter.  Rest rooms and water are available. Afterwards you are encouraged to join us for refreshments and more geo-chat.

Hope to see you all there!

Reminders: A daily pass ($7) or annual ND state park pass ($35) is required to enter. Dress for the weather/trails
