The Carnarvon Flood Mitigation Works.
Officially opened in 2014, this levee helps to keep water from some of the agricultural areas east of the town center during flood periods caused by heavy rain inland flowing down the Gascoyne River and the river breaking it's banks in the lower reaches.
Carnarvon is like my second home - I spend time here most years - "red dirt and dust..."
This cache is placed where it should be safe from flooding, yet also quickly accessible by Geocachers. There is a safe graded parking area large enough for caravans (muddy after rains) while the large / long trucks rumble past on the highway - but you should still keep an eye on your Kids.
