This cache is the 5th in a series I am starting to provide an interactive historical tour of the Village of Westchester in anticipation of the upcoming 100th anniversary of the village in 2026. The goal is to have 100 (or as close to 100 as possible) active geocaches in Westchester that tell a story. For this cache, the 3rd site of the Westchester Village Hall will be featured with the 4th and current building seen in the short distance. Please enjoy the following historical image and description of the land, courtesy of the Anyone Who Ever Lived In Westchester Facebook group.
By 1953 the village occupied the space as this became the third Village Hall and the second owned by the village. In the early '60s, the building was razed to the ground once the fourth Village Hall, 10240 W. Roosevelt Rd., was completed. That space is currently occupied by the Westchester Post Office and Westchester Fire Department Station #1.
The fifth and current Village Hall stands one door west at 10300 W. Roosevelt Rd.
Congrats to j3yoda for the FTF!
