Geocache Description:

This is another of a series of Jigsaw Puzzles highlighting the Longreach Local Government Area.

But more than just a Jigsaw!

Life is a puzzle. Make sense - solve the puzzle!

This jigsaw shows part of our Longreach property.  Our farmhouse is just behind us, and we have two large paddocks.  The photo was taken with the sun setting over the farmhouse.

We farm Guinea Fowl. We love them, as they are a good source of protein (53g per serve - 98% RDA/RI), and provide support for your heart, mood, DNA and the cleansing activity your body needs.  Here is our favourite recipe:

1) Place the fowl on the grill of a baking tray and season with salt and pepper.

2) Roast at 180C for 65 minutes or a little longer if you want it well done, set aside and cover to rest reserving the pan juices.

3) Whilst the fowl is roasting boil the potatoes for 10 minutes and drain into a colander, once the steam has gone shake them up to create a rough surface.

4) Quarter the parsnips and cut the carrots into small batons.

5) Once the fowl is out of the oven turn up to 235C and put a baking tray in with the beef dripping to heat up.

6) Once the fat is hot put the potatoes and parsnips into the tray and baste well, return to the oven for 40 minutes.

7) When the potatoes are nearly ready put the broccoli florets and carrot batons into a steamer and steam for 5 minutes or until cooked to your liking.

8) When the potatoes and parsnips are browned enough take them out of the oven.

9) To make the gravy add some flour to the meat juices and create a rue, add chicken stock until the desired consistency is reached, or use instant granules and water if you prefer.

10) Plate it all up and serve with gravy on the side and Yorkshire puddings if desired (I use ready made just heat through on the oven for 4 minutes).

But I digress.

It is stocktake time, so we did a muster flight over the two paddocks to count the number of Guinea Fowl in each paddock.  In the one closest to where the photo was taken, we counted the first lot.  We set the chopper down, had our lunch, and after taking the photo, we took the chopper off to the right, where the other paddock is, and counted the Guinea Fowl there.

Prices are pretty good at the moment - we are being offered one Guinea per ten fowl.  (How much per Numida meleagris is that?)

The Guinea Coin

Wile we were out, we placed a geocache to mark the occasion.  The partial coordinates are S23 1X.XXX and E144 1Y.YYY - close to where we had lunch, actually.  The missing numbers you can calculate by working out what we were paid in Shillings.

Let us know when you are passing by and we'll "fowl up" the BBQ for lunch.  You'll love us for the experience.
