About Southern Pacific Roseburg Depot

The Railroad first came to Roseburg in 1872 with a small train station. It was replaced with a much larger station around 1900. In 1912, the Southern Pacific replaced the wooden depot with the current brick and aggregate structure. Passenger trains dwindled after the SP built the Natron Cutoff over Willamette Pass, moving most trains from the Siskiyou line through Roseburg. All passenger service ended in 1955, ending the need for this station.
A Portland-based brewpub chain purchased the building and restored it in 1999. Freight trains still roll by the station but don't stop.
