About SideTracked Caches
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breathtaking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveler, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website
This cache also qualifies for the Disappearing RR Blues bonus cache. This series highlights the railways of NW Oregon
About Springfield RR Depot

The Southern Pacific built this train depot (or station) in 1891 for Springfield, Oregon. It is an SP standard depot design #22 with a two-level depot plus the attached freight depot. Upstairs were living quarters for the station master. Passenger service to Springfield ended in 1965. The station quickly fell into disrepair. In 1988 the SP offered the station to the City of Springfield. The city moved it from the train line to its current location. It has been beautifully restored. Today it is home to the Springfield Chamber of Commerce and the Springfield Visitors Center.
The cache is west of the depot. I recommend parking at the visitor's center and walking to ground zero.
