Di fronte al castello di Pedres, vicino al centro abitato di Olbia, un alone di mistero circonda un luogo di sepolture nuragiche. Nella tomba di Giganti de su mont’e s’Abe (o s’Ape), a differenza delle migliaia di sepolture preistoriche del suo genere, i defunti erano sepolti in forma collettiva. Nella sala funeraria venivano officiati i riti sacri legati al defunto ma qui, rispetto a quanto capitava altrove, non sono stati rinvenuti nel pozzetto sacro i documenti funerari che accompagnavano il defunto sino al congiungimento con la divinità.
La costruzione fu edificata in due fasi. Nella prima, risalente al periodo della cultura di Bonnanaro, venne costruita la tomba ad allée couverte - una sorta di dolmen allungato -, successivamente, attorno al 1600 a.C., fu trasformata in tomba di Giganti con esedra e stele, delle quali potrai ammirare alcune tracce. La costruzione, originariamente costruita a forma di testa di toro, divinità generatrice di vita, era delimitata frontalmente da un semicerchio.
In front of Pedres Castle, near the town of Olbia, an aura of mystery surrounds a Nuragic burial site. In the tomb of Giganti de su mont'e s'Abe (or s'Ape), unlike thousands of prehistoric burials of its kind, the deceased were buried collectively. Sacred rites related to the deceased were officiated in the burial chamber, but here, in comparison with elsewhere, no funerary documents were found in the sacred well that accompanied the deceased until his or her conjunction with the deity.
The construction was built in two phases. In the first, dating back to the period of the Bonnanaro culture, an allée couverte tomb - a kind of elongated dolmen - was built; later, around 1600 B.C., it was transformed into a Giants' tomb with an exedra and stelae, of which you can admire some traces. The construction, originally built in the shape of a bull's head, a life-giving deity, was bordered frontally by a semicircle.
